Cheri Blomquist is a freelance teacher and author, as well as the mother of four daughters and one son. She earned a degree in English education and Bible from Northwestern College (now University of Northwestern), and she has been part of the homeschool community since 2005 as both a parent and a teacher for various tutorial programs. One of those programs inspired her online course, The Denim Beret Writing Program. In addition to her work in education, she has written fiction, poetry, and other materials for various programs and publications, such as The Old Schoolhouse Magazine and SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Currently she lives near Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she continues to homeschool, write, and teach.

The Importance of Children's Literature in a Quality Education (CHC 2021)
Children's literature is often treated as simply a bridge to the great adult classics with little value beyond the child's experience. In reality, however, it has always had an important role to play in Western civilization, for it has contributed powerful voices to the "Great Conversation" of the ages. In this talk I'll discuss why spending more time with the literature that children have loved throughout history will never be a waste in a homeschool education.
