    Dr. Anthony Esolen

    Bio

    Anthony Esolen, a contributing editor at Crisis, is a professor and writer-in-residence at Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts. Dr Esolen has authored several books, including The Politically Incorrect Guide to Western Civilization (Regnery Press, 2008), Ten Ways to Destroy the Imagination of Your Child (ISI Books, 2010) and Reflections on the Christian Life (Sophia Institute Press, 2013).

    Imagination, the Driver

    I urge all parents to take charge of forming the imaginations of their children, rather than leave that to the engines of mass entertainment. We must not suppose that the bare truth will ever be enough: it must be embodied in story, and art, and song. Especially I urge parents to use the dynamite of poetry -- traditional poetry from the greats of our English heritage -- as wonderfully economical and immensely powerful.
